For us, Health and Safety is a matter of Pride and (quite literally) a matter of life and death. Adherence to relevant Health and Safety legislation is our starting point, not our aim. We adhere to the requirements of all relevant legislation, including (but not limited to):
Profile Roofing has a superb track record in health and safety on both large and small projects. As well as appropriate accreditations to prove the company has the necessary systems in place to carry out works safely, we follow our own audited policies and procedures.
We are committed to providing a working environment where hazards are eliminated or controlled properly. It is a joint obligation between the contractor and the client to comply with all legal requirements. The survey, carried out before each project by our qualified surveyors, will take into consideration both your and our safety requirements, and we will plan and provide for safety during the whole job.
Safety is not a cost; it is the right way to do the job. Safety is not something we say, it is something we do from planning all the way through to job completion. Safety is something we invest time and money into. We invest in:
When our trained surveyors carry out a survey the following items are taken into consideration. If applicable, these items will be provided and quoted for in our specification and quotation.
Following on from a site assessment visit, the appropriate type of access and scaffolding to suit each individual contract can be provided. This includes full edge protection or full boarded scaffolding protection, scaffolding towers, scissor lifts, telescopic booms, walkway systems, lightweight staging and all types of fall and arrest systems.
We work with you, assess the needs of the site and provide full or partial safety netting solutions. Debris netting within the safety netting can also be included.
We design the work to be safe, but we still need to supplement our approach with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a result, G stops and harnesses to be worn by operatives, high visibility jackets, safety boots, gloves, overalls, respiratory masks and helmets. We also work closely with the client to ensure that all site regulations are complied with.
When carrying out the removal of asbestos cement fibre roof sheeting, air monitoring tests will be provided by an approved health and safety contractor.
We may start by reviewing your asbestos information, but prior to carrying out works on asbestos cement fibre sheeting. It is a legal requirement to obtain a laboratory analysis of the asbestos to be removed. We arrange for the safe, complaint collection of asbestos waste (covered skips) and manage the safe final disposal of the waste asbestos.
Safety precautions for hot working regulations are complied with when using bitumen boilers and torch on guns. Such work will be carried out under a Permit to Work System, as required by the site, and followed with a suitable fire watch. Our company vehicles carry fire extinguishers, and our workers are trained in the use of these extinguishers.
Profile Roofing engages the service of an external Health and Safety Consultancy. The service includes reviewing and updating our company health and safety policy and associated documentation as required. The service also extends to site support visits, site safety audits, assistance with risk assessments, delivery of training courses, assistance with toolbox talks and a 24-hour on call service for advice with the legislation.
An on-site handover is conducted prior to the commencement of each project to ensure that all aspects of the contract are fully understood. Site Safety Induction Forms and Health and Safety Site Handover Forms are also completed before any work begins. Site Audits are carried out throughout the duration of the project to ensure that best practice and company Health and Safety procedures are followed. Suitably detailed Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) are issued to clients for approval and to the Foreman and Operatives, prior to project commencement.
